POWERSTAGE POWER AMPLIFIERS

Overview:
When it comes to power amplifiers, as a general rule we take the view that the quality of the components in a circuit is of more importance that the circuit itself when it comes to determining the overall performance of an audiophile design. Frankly our circuits are very good, but not in the true sense of the word 'special.' However the components we use are most certainly very special. In many cases we have over the years created considerable stockpiles of long discontinued special components.
We've done this not only to ensure that we'll always have spare parts but also because some of these discontinued parts have no sonic equal today. Or put differently, in some instances, nothing and we do mean nothing currently available at any price will approach, equal or exceed some of these classic components. Strange – but true.
Thus although in general terms the circuits used in our power amps are similar, the quality of the components, right down to the solder and the multi-diameter silver wiring are progressively improved as you move up through the range.
A crucial aspect, by which we mean the time-consuming skill involved, is how to ensure that every component is working in complete harmony with not only the next component on the circuit, but with every component throughout the entire piece of equipment. To get this right takes many years of experience and in parts, that’s what you pay for as you progress up through the range of my power amps.
Whereas with all my other product categories, there is a defined upgrade path where one model sounds better than the one preceding it, this is not the case with my first two power amps. In fact they are deliberately designed to sound different from each other. It’s a good idea to ask. Also some of my retailers offer very competitive trade-ins on discontinued LFD power amps such as my PA0, PA1 and PA2 units against my latest ones. Again – it’s a good idea to ask.
Thank you

PA2M SE (twin mono in one case).
This model has a very fine mid range and top end with the deepest, most powerful and tight bass end I know how to produce. This is two entirely separate mono power amps in one case.
£3,000 inc vat
PA3 monos 2 x single case monos.
This model has the most natural and refined mid range and top end I know how to produce. The bass end is, comparatively speaking richer and warmer than that of the PA2M SE.
£4,000 inc vat
Anniversary stereo.
Like the twin mono units below, this is work in progress. With these, I-m trying to combine the advantages of the PA2M SE with that of the PA3 mono units – without compromising or diluting the benefits of either. This is going to be very challenging and on current showing, it might not be until mid 2010 until it is released.
Anticipated price £5,000 inc vat
Anniversary monos.
It’s a similar story to the one above. The twin Anniversary mono will I hope have all of the sonic attributes of the Anniversary stereo but will be more powerful, work into extremely demanding loads and will be one of my finest creations. This is going to be very challenging and on current showing, it might not be until late 2010 until it is released.
Anticipated price £7,500 per pair inc vat
